The iOS app developers have earned more than $260 billion since the store's launch in 2008, according to a press release issued by Apple, which said in January that developers' profits have reached more than $200 billion since the store's launch, so the new figure shared on Monday indicates that developers' profits reached $60 billion in 2021.

Although new figures indicate that the App Store is a major source of income for app developers, many are annoyed by the restrictions caused by the store policies.

Apple is still struggling in a legal dispute with Fortnite developer Epic Games overpayments and apple has arguably come out well of the court's ruling because the ruling has been suspended, which means Apple will not have to direct developer customers to alternative payment systems outside the App Store at this time.

The October press release also included a figure that was first shared, with more than 745 million paid subscriptions for services provided by developers and Apple, and in recent years Apple has added new premium services such as News Plus, Fitness Plus, and Apple TV Plus to its list of service offerings.

The strategy appears to be paying off due to the new rise in service revenues reported during October earnings, but it is unclear how many subscriptions to apple's private services were counted in this figure of 745 million.
